April is Move More Month! This observance was created by the American Heart Association to encourage all Americans to commit to being more active regularly.  If you’ve forgotten about any New Year health goals, April is a good time to reevaluate.  

Here are a few health tips to focus on for you and your family in April and throughout the year. If you are not currently physically active, take it slow and work up to 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity daily. Remember, modeling healthy habits helps children and young adults create lifelong healthy habits.  

Make physical activity fun! Incorporate things you and your family enjoy doing, such as biking, hiking, physically active games, and dancing.  Be sure to hydrate by drinking plenty of water before, during, and after physical activity. Remember, a healthy lifestyle not only includes being active, but also healthy food choices. 

Get in the kitchen and make a family meal together. Variety, moderation, and balance are essential for both your diet and your physical activities.
