PIERRE, SD - The South Dakota Beef Industry Council (SDBIC) board of directors and staff invite the public to attend the annual meeting Sat., Sept 17 at Fishback Studio and Theater, in the South Dakota State University Performing Arts Center in Brookings, SD.
SDBIC directors will hear reports from the executive, nominating, research, promotion and budget committees, receive program report updates, as well as pass the budget for fiscal year 2017. The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m.
The Prime Promoter Luncheon will follow the annual meeting at 11:30 a.m. where the SDBIC will honor one individual and one business for outstanding service to the beef industry. Those award winners will also be recognized on the field during the 50thAnnual Beef Bowl Football game that evening.
Anyone tailgating before the football game is encouraged to participate in the Beef Bowl Tailgate beef cooking competition. The winner will receive $250 in beef bucks. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place. Additional information can be found on SDBIC social media sites.

The Federation of State Beef Councils represents the 43 Qualified State Beef Councils. Collectively, the QSBCs include more than 700 state board members and these board members represent a wide range of industry organizations and every segment of the beef industry. The Federation is a division of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA), which is a contractor to the Beef Checkoff Program. The program is administered by the Cattlemen’s Beef Board, with oversight provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
